Introduction of a company team

Mooncamp has always had a dedicated space for the company - the company space within your sidebar. This was the place to display your company vision and logo, as well as your company goals.

However, it has always been somewhat unclear how to define company goals. This issue is now resolved. The company space now functions like any other team space. The company is your top-level team, which you can select when creating a goal.

We believe that this is the best way in organising company goals and we strongly recommend that you follow us with this approach.

Depending on how you have been treating company goals previously, you may want to do some small adjustments to your existing setup. In the following, we will give you advice on how you could proceed.

What has changed?

The change was introduced on September 10th, 2024.

Previously, your account had a "company space." It was the first space under the "Spaces" section in your sidebar, containing your organization's goals, logo, name and vision statement.

Until now, this space was a separate section, not a regular team space. You couldn't select the company as a team for a goal, nor access other team space settings for it.

We've now removed the old “company space” and replaced it with a new top-level team for your account. This team is an exact copy of the former “company space” and thus, includes your company goals, logo, name, and vision statement. We've also copied all existing views and added account admins as team owners.

What needs to be done on your side?

After discussions with many clients about how this change affects existing accounts, we have good news: most accounts don't need to change anything.

We've identified two main scenarios for how existing accounts have been handling company goals. Depending on your situation, you might want to follow our recommendations for minor manual adjustments.

Scenario 1: You had created your own company team - ACTION REQUIRED

Many customers created a separate team to represent the company. In this case, you'll now have two company teams. We strongly recommend merging these teams into one.

We've prepared a dedicated video with guidance on how to do this:

Scenario 2: You used a different approach - NO ACTION REQUIRED

If you didn't create a dedicated company team before, you likely identified company goals through a specific goal type or another property.

You don't need to take any action now, as everything will continue to work normally. However, you might consider switching to tagging company goals with the new designated team to identify them easily. We believe this is the best approach, but the choice is yours.
